Introduction

Welcome! I am so glad you're here. A little about me: I have a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work from Florida State University. I have been in practice since 2015, working in several settings including in-home therapy, psychiatric hospitals, and both inpatient and outpatient therapy. I have enjoyed helping adults tackle anxiety and mood disorders, major life transitions, relationship issues, and the challenges that come with trying to concieve a child (infertility, grief, life changes, etc.). I am also an educator and teach college courses on mental health at Florida State College at Jacksonville. What my treatment approach is like: I help clients recognize their self-worth, set boudaries, and enhance their sense of self. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders, specifically panic disorder, generalized anxiety, and specific phobia. I use a goal-oriented approach, and welcome exploration of alternative methods of treating and coping with stress, including holistic methods of treatment. I enjoy helping clients focus on solutions, understanding the "why" behind behaviors, and get curious about other factors that might be influencing their functioning and feelings. I use a mind-body approach, helping clients address problematic thoughts, negative perceptions, and emotional distress, with the help of cognitive behavior therapy (we look at logic and reason) and tools to soothe the nervous system to reduce reactivity to stress (this includes techniques from polyvagal theory and mindfulness). I believe we have to feel to heal, and we can't ignore the body in our efforts to manage difficult emotions. I aim to provide a safe, warm, and inviting atmosphere for clients to feel comfortable sharing their fears, worries, and hardships, and also love to celebrate the triumphs they experience. I view the therapeutic relationship as unique - one where we function as a team with a common goal. I am rooting for you already! Services for Clinical Social Work Interns: I love helping professionals and offer supervision for registered clinical social work interns. Teaching is a passion of mine and I use what I learn and teach in the classroom both with my clients and clincial social work interns. I would be honored to be a part of your journey, whether that is in therapy or as a professional working toward licensure. I believe that peace and self-acceptance in the hard spaces is possible, and I hope to help you acheive this!
