In approaching therapy, I consider two fundamental elements of human existence; the inextricable link between the mind and body and our need for connection and a sense of purpose. With these ideas at the foundation of my practice, I tend to incorporate methods and concepts from Supportive and Strengths-Based Psychotherapy, Humanistic Psychotherapy, Existential Psychotherapy, Relational Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I feel strongly that each person benefits from a customized practice that may draw from multiple applicable modalities. I encourage candor, collaboration, and feedback, in the rewarding and challenging work we will do together. I have experience treating mood, psychotic, and anxiety disorders, as well as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Acute Stress Disorder. Additional areas of interest and experience include the following: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Grounding techniques, Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Experiencing, self-image, and interpersonal communication.
