Everyone goes through periods when life is challenging and something isn’t working. If you are here, you've probably decided something needs to change in your life. Whatever you are feeling in this moment - by simply noticing what is happening in your life and deciding that you'd like to see yourself living differently - you have already begun and you’re on your way. Part science, part art. The science of therapy provides us with data that tells us which therapeutic strategies work best for specific problems. For me, knowing the science is crucial; using it, however, is an art. The art of therapy starts with the cumulative life experiences of the therapist. A good therapist is transparent, empathic, open, honest, and comes to the work with humor. A good therapist works in the place where science and art collide. This is where I reside when working with clients. This is where therapy can be the most productive and meaningful.
