My name is Rachelle Tonwar and I have been licensed as a professional counselor in Georgia since 2006. I have a certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) and specialize in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). My services also include parenting support, depression, anxiety and support for those navigating life post-divorce. My clinical experience and training are diverse and reflect my passion and commitment to helping people navigate their unique healing journeys. My therapeutic approach is grounded in theory, clinical and academic experience and most importantly compassion. This includes utilizing the most trusted method for treating OCD called exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP). ERP is considered the ‘Gold Standard’ treatment for OCD and is an evidenced based treatment modality. In addition to ERP, I also utilize the following therapeutic approaches to inform and compassionately facilitate the counseling process: dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), play therapy, the active parenting program, Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) and yoga (RYT200). It is my belief that each person has an inherent need to belong, feel connected, capable and to make a difference in the world.
