Hi, my name is Rachel van Zevenbergen. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience in the field. The majority of my clinical experience has been with children, teens and families, but I have recently been branching out to serving the younger adult population as well (18-35). I received my Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010 and my Master's in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 2012. My clinical experience has included a variety of settings including schools, non-profit organizations, and private practice. I have always been passionate about helping others and feel so lucky to have found a career that allows me to do this every day. My treatment style is eclectic and versatile, and every client is unique in what works best for them. First and foremost, I believe in building a collaborative, trusting, and respectful relationship with my clients. I offer an approach to therapy that is compassionate, non-judgemental, and strength based. We will work together to clarify what you are hoping to achieve and what might be getting in the way. We will draw from your own knowledge, abilities, experiences and strengths as you work towards change. I utilize a number of treatment modalities, including Person-Centered, Strengths-Based, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Play Therapy. When working with children and teens, I often work closely with parents and school staff such as school social workers and teachers in order to provide a comprehensive and collaborative approach to treatment.
