Introduction

Waitlist for new clients & anticipate having openings in June/July Email is the best way to reach me as I am usually in sessions with clients during the day. Please email me at veronica@innerhealingtherapyPA.org to schedule an intake appointment or a brief consultation call to explore if I am a good fit for what you are looking for and how therapy could help. Who AM I? Hi! I am Veronica, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and bilingual therapist (English and Mandarin Chinese). I hold a Bachelor of Science in Child, Youth, and Family Studies from University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Master of Social Work specializing in clinical mental health from University of Pittsburgh. Prior to starting my own practice, I worked at the University Counseling Center at University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Center for Eating Disorders. In my free time. I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, writing, playing with my pets (Lulu, Nana and Poppy) and trying new things. WHOM COULD I HELP? You came to therapy because something doesn't feel quite right; you would like to make changes and you believe life could be different. Sometimes on this journey of life, we need someone to walk alongside us, to see the burdens and pains we carry and offer us a safe space to release and heal these burdens and pains. I do not see my clients as people with problems and diagnosis, but individuals who hold unique life stories, identities, and strengths. I am here, as a therapist and a fellow traveler of life, to support you in understanding more about what shapes you for who you are and exploring where some of your current struggles and challenges come from. I am trained and have experience in supporting individuals in working through identity, relationship and attachment related issues, traumas, depression, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, and eating disorders. Maybe you are an international student or identify as an immigrant or children of immigrants. You are constantly grappling with the complex and layered meaning and dynamics that come along with this identity. You wonder how your upbringing, your family’s intergenerational trauma and the multilayered systems you currently live at is playing a role in your stress and experiences. Maybe you have been hurt deeply by important people in your life. You experienced something that shook your nervous system and overwhelmed your whole personhood. The traumas, even though it might have happened a long time ago, still seem to be haunting you. You would like to heal from and move on from previous traumas and adverse experiences and live a life that is free from their lurking shadows. Maybe you have been struggling with eating and body image issues and would like to work towards creating a more balanced, compassionate and empowered relationship with food and your body. Maybe you struggle with overthinking, pleasing people, and anxiety. You constantly prioritize other people’s needs at the expense of your own and fear that you might not live up to others’ expectations and fail. Maybe you notice you can be emotionally sensitive and impulsive and would like to work on building up your emotional resiliency and improve your ability to effectively regulate and deal with your emotions. Maybe you are told that you are a perfectionist or overachiever. You value hard work and productivity, but at times you feel deeply burnt out, stressed, and overwhelmed and wonder how you could slow down and live your life a bit more. HOW DO I HELP? My role as a therapist encompasses supporting you in healing and challenging you to grow. I provide a collaborative and safe space to support my clients in exploring their current life state and problems; accessing their own wisdom and potential; processing and healing from past wounds; and relating to themselves and others in a more fulfilling way. Collaboratively, we will explore the patterns and meaning of your emotions, behaviors and experiences and how past incidents and events contributed to your current challenges. I will help you get to know more about your inner experiences so that you could gain insights and clarity to your current situations. My hope is to come alongside you as you achieve goals and honor values that bring you a sense of purpose, meaning and contentment. I describe myself as a relational eclectic therapist, meaning I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space to hold your emotions and experiences and aim at pulling various techniques and interventions from different models of therapy to create a treatment plan that works for you. I do not like to "manualize" our time together because I believe the healing power of therapy is harnessed through the process of me getting to know you, us building a safe and genuine therapeutic relationship and collaboratively creating an individualized plan. You could read more about therapeutic interventions and clinical approaches I utilize at the bottom of this page under "approaches". I look forward to meeting you and getting to know how I can support you on this journey towards healing and wellness. Please email me at veronica@innerhealingtherapyPA.org should you want to schedule an intake appointment to explore how therapy could help.
