Paula Rainer holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and M.Ed. in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. Dr. Rainer is currently an adjunct professor at Marymount University and Clinical Director at GCL Psychological Services. She has previously taught at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Argosy, Johns Hopkins, Marymount, South, Divine Mercy, George Mason, and Liberty Universities in the area of Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling. Dr. Rainer is a National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider, and Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia in private practice, where she serves individuals and teenagers. Her specialty includes depression and suicidal ideation. She has served as both a director of counseling and middle school counselor in Prince William County, Va. Her latest publications in 2018 include Freud's Ego States and its relationship to personality development and Erik Erikson's Stages of Development book chapters in the Handbook of experiential teaching in counselor education: A resource guide for counselor educators.
