Paul has been a therapist since 2001 specializing in marriage and family therapy, and has since practiced in a variety of settings, including five years working with youth in residential settings and ten working with Native American communities. He finished his doctoral studies in 2018 by writing a treatment manual for treating Native American domestic abuse offenders, and specializes in this area as well as substance use disorders and trauma survivors. Paul is convinced that establishing a strong therapeutic connection first and foremost is crucial to effective therapy, as evidenced by one of the signs on his wall, “Human first, Therapist second.” Paul has been married to Julie since 1991 and they have five (grown) children and two (grown) cats. Paul is a closet gamer, but really relaxes when hiking and kayaking Utah’s many parks and reservoirs.
