Introduction

To us, Recovery is about building the life you never had, or getting back what was lost. Old Man New Man Recovery (OMNMR) is an out-patient counseling program owned and lead by Pastephine Taylor. In 2005 Ms. Taylor started volunteering in the field of marriage and family counseling. In 2008 she completed her first degree in psychology. While on a path towards her marriage and family therapy license, it was noted that a large majority of family violence was influenced by substance abuse. This is why she chose to specialize in the large majority of the problem and become a licensed chemical dependency counselor. In 2011 she got a second degree in chemical dependency counseling. In 2012 she started a paid internship in the Texas prison system, became fully licensed in 2013, and stayed working with parole, probation, and parents with child protective services cases until 2018. In 2018 Ms. Taylor formed Old Man New Man Recovery to mirror the level of treatment support that comes after serious violations. People in these situations get a full treatment team of resources and support to help them get and stay on track with their goals. The concept of OMNMR, is that we don't have to wait for more serious violations to justify connecting you to a treatment team of resources, serious support, and guidance. If you're willing to do the work for yourself or your family, we're willing to at least point you in the right direction. Our focus is supporting you by giving you tools on your path to the betterment of your life. OMNMR uses evidence-based practices, real-life experiences, and spiritual principles, to assist in learning and applying new patterns and reasons for change. At OMNMR we believe every experience has a lesson attached. We encourage everyone to learn from them, so we don't have to keep recreating the same unpleasant ones. We work on applying the information. When doing so, we formulate substance and structure. Often, we emphasize that we are "Recovery Based." Not addiction based. This means, we encourage telling the truth about the addiction and the lifestyle, and focusing on where we are, and the path to where we want to be. Glamorizing the addiction and its mess only gets us caught up in its traps. Our goal is to get out of the traps and find new ways to get what we like, without the sabotage.
