Alicia Diorio is a Child Therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Forest Hills, Queens. She has been practicing in the mental health field for 16 years and has acquired formal training in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical work on the Inpatient Child Psychiatric Unit and in the Partial Hospitalization Program for Children and Adolescents, has provided a wide range of expertise in mental health and psychiatric conditions. Currently in private practice, she specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents. An Integrative approach combines techniques from various orientations. Types of therapy may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Integrative Psychotherapy, Play Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. Orientations are often combined for the benefit of each patient. Specialty areas include treatment of Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, ADHD, Social Skills Problems, Anger, and Behavioral Problems. Alicia has been involved in meditation training which has provided a direct understanding of the mind-body connection. This knowledge has helped to better assist patients in developing their capacities for awareness and change. A mindfulness based approach promotes both physiological and psychological well being. Additionally, Alicia sits on the Board of Child Resilient, a student-led nonprofit organization that aims to foster emotional resilience and mental health wellness in children and adolescents through education, outreach, and awareness.
