Introduction

Accepting new clients for telehealth appointments in DC, MD, VA, & GA. I'm Nikki Ford. I have been a clinical social worker for nearly 15 years. I earned my undergraduate degrees in psychology and cultural anthropology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, Master of Social Work from The University of Georgia, and Master of Public Health from the University of Maryland. I primarily work with adults experiencing difficulties related to depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, trauma, grief, or struggling to cope with stress and change. First and foremost, I believe that you are the person most expert about you. My role is to help you identify goals and develop strategies to reach those goals. Most importantly, my role is to support you as you make positive and lasting changes. As a clinical social worker, I work from a strengths-based, person-centered, and deeply collaborative perspective. As a clinical social worker, I work from a strengths-based, person-centered, and deeply collaborative perspective. We become a team in your therapy journey. My approach to therapy is eclectic. I primarily draw from cognitive-behavioral therapies but recognize the critical importance of using other evidence-based modalities to ensure that our work is individualized to your needs and goals. I also believe humor can play an important role in the therapeutic process. Clients work hard in therapy, and moments of levity can help reframe and normalize struggles in a positive manner. If you think I may be a good fit for your therapy journey, I look forward to the opportunity! Payment: My practice is self-pay, which for a host of reasons, allows me more flexibility to work with clients based on their individual needs. Most insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that you can use to be reimbursed for your sessions with me. Payment is due at the time of service, and I provide you with all of the documentation necessary for you to file claims with your insurance. You can also use your HSA/FSA plan to pay for services. I am also excited to announce a new option for my clients. I am now working with Advekit, a service that: - Allows you to pay only your out-of-pocket responsibility at the time of service (copay/coinsurance), - Coordinates your out-of-network benefits, - Completes any required authorizations, and - Manages your claims and payments, There is no cost for you to use Advekit. I partner with Advekit solely to make it easier for my clients to see an out-of-network provider.
