Nikki is a Licensed Clinical Social work and Registered Play Therapist with 6 years of experience working with children and families who have experienced developmental trauma. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education. She received her master's degree in social work from St. Louis University. She has level one training in Theraplay as well as Sunshine Circle training, which is the group Theraplay model. She has phase one training in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutic and incorporates key principles of neurodevelopment into her clinical process. Nikki has worked as a program manager for several years and has helped caregivers navigate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, as well as, the transition from the preschool to kindergarten setting. Play is the language of children and play therapy allows children to express their thoughts, feelings, and wishes in a safe and age-appropriate way. Toys and play materials are carefully selected for the children to express themselves. Play therapy has been shown to be effective for a variety of childhood concerns. Caregiver are an important part of the child's therapy process and Nikki works collaboratively with caregivers to provide support and resources. Nikki is also available to provide school observations of clients who are having behavioral and social concerns upon request.
