My name is Niamh, pronounced Neve, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LMHC)and Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (PMH-C). I trained as a therapist in a Community Mental Health organization where I completed my Practicum, Internship, and Associates license. Prior to that I worked for a Behavioral Health Company in both their Crisis Unit and Detoxification Unit which was a huge motivating factor for my journey to becoming a therapist. My family and I immigrated to the United States from the Republic of Ireland when I was a child. This experience has helped to inform who I am as a therapist and a person; which helps me to connect with clients from various cultures and backgrounds. I am married with 5 children, 1 of whom is a bonus child. I also have a puppy named Jedi. My favorite hobbies are reading, travelling, planning, and spending time with family. As a therapist, I utilize Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, and Motivational Interviewing techniques. I believe every client’s needs are different and there is no “one-size fits all” approach. In your session’s with me, you should expect a warm, empathetic, non-judgmental person to accompany you on your journey through therapy. It is my aim to provide compassionate, helpful therapy on a personal level with my clients. I have a passion for women's health issues and served on the board of the Snohomish County Perinatal Task Force and Snohomish NEAR Collaboration to help increase education and awareness in my community. One of the most important parts of therapy is choosing the therapist that is right for you; one that you feel you can connect with. The therapeutic alliance is one of the most important indicators of success in therapy. Wishing you luck on your therapeutic journey, Niamh.
