Introduction

Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck? Do you feel like your usual coping skills are not currently enough? Does it feel like it has been a while since someone listened and understood you? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, then counseling might be for you. There is a misconception that counseling is only for wealthy individuals or severe mental illness, but this could not be further from the truth. Counseling is preventative, supportive and for everyone. If you are struggling with family issues, anxiety, depression, trauma and in need of support, then as a counselor I would like to work with you. My name is Ne'Shaun Borden, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida (15498). I strongly believe in the power of positive relationships, communication, and support as a pathway towards healing. This belief led me to pursue a career in mental health counseling in 2013. My counseling approach is shaped by humanistic counseling principles which values the clients’ abilities to control their own destinies. I embrace feminist counseling principles which explore the impact of systemic issues on our mental health. Finally, I believe that for counseling to be effective that it must be culturally responsive. Using these principles, I work with individuals to construct their own treatment goals. I have been working with young people in some capacity since 2009. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I completed my practicum and internships at a college counseling center and at an outpatient opioid treatment center. I have worked as a school based mental health counselor and as counselor with justice involved youth. These experiences and my doctoral studies have prepared me to serve clients in my private practice. When I am not working, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, and reading. I look forward to supporting you on your therapy journey.
