Introduction

Nate Mellum is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who is passionate about treating children, adolescents, and young adults, but also sees adults on a more limited basis. A Reno native, Nate attended University of Nevada, Reno for both his undergraduate and graduate studies where he specialized in mental health and psychiatry. He worked for five years as a registered nurse at Veteran's Affairs in Reno before deciding to focus on mental health and psychiatry. He has worked in various settings including outpatient clinics, consultation on medical floors, and a mental health crisis unit. During Nate's time abroad doing non-profit work in Africa and India he found that mental health is a foundational aspect of a healthy life regardless of age, background, or culture. Now, having three children of his own, he is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults to be mentally sound and assisting them in their growth and development. He also enjoys identifying personal narrative patterns in the lives of adults and utilizing this therapeutically. We provide assessment, diagnosis, and guidance in managing mental illness, as well as pharmacologic treatment (i.e. medication) for mental illness and also offer psychotherapy on a limited basis. Medication can be a powerful tool in achieving mental wellness, but like all tools it has to be used in the right setting, at the right time, and for the right amount of time. We would love to work with you.
