With over 10 years of experience in the field, I am a masters-level independently licensed clinical social worker, an international alcohol and drug counselor, and an EMDR certified psychotherapist. I received my B.A. and MSW at the University of Iowa, and I received my Advanced Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate from Oakton Community College. I apply a trauma-informed and strength-based approach to empower clients and assist them in healing and reaching their goals. I understand each client has their own unique individual treatment needs, and I utilize components of a variety of evidenced-based psychotherapies including EMDR, Play Therapy, CBT, TF-CBT, and DBT. I specialize in the treatment of complex trauma, substance use disorders, mood disorders, and maladaptive behavioral patterns. I am passionate about working with people of all backgrounds and I want potential clients to know they will be safe and accepted for who they are. I have had the privilege of being involved in multiple community programs including providing clinical consultation for the Parent Partners program, facilitating the Caring Dads program, and volunteering at a local recovery program for women. I also taught for four years as an adjunct Human Services instructor at Iowa Central Community College. Now in my private practice, I provide behavioral health psychotherapy services for children, adolescents, and adults throughout the lifespan. I firmly believe anyone can benefit from therapy services, and I am passionate about guiding clients towards healing, growth, self-love, acceptance, and reaching their full potential. Above all, my goal is for Magnolia Counseling & Therapy to be safe place to heal.
