It is only natural to have hard times, feel lonely, or just want a nonjudgmental person to talk to. Seeking therapy is not a sign of weakness, but a demonstration of strength and resilience. A quote by Maya Angelou that resonates with me states, ‘You may not control all of the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.’ I believe that everyone already has the power to change within them. Therefore, my philosophy in therapy is to combine your expertise on your life with my clinical knowledge and skills to empower you to meet your goals. I completed the Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy program at Utah Tech University in 2023 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Social Justice from Dixie State University in 2020. As a systems therapist, I believe we are all influenced by our relationships with others, so it is important to address those issues directly in therapy. Therefore, in addition to individual therapy, I love working with intimate relationships and families. I tend to favor more humanistic and cognitive-behavioral models of therapy and work to incorporate inclusivity and cultural sensitivity into my practice. I am trained in EMDR therapy. I am an LGBTQIA+-affirmative therapist and am certified to administer the Gender ASSET. I have also received training in the Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, two of the leading approaches for relationship counseling. I was born and raised in Southern Utah, and I love to take advantage of the warm climate and beautiful landscapes. I am a huge bookworm and can talk about my favorite novels endlessly! I am constantly on the go and love to explore new places. Honestly, daydreaming about traveling takes up way too much of my time. I love animals, and I’m totally the type of person who will accidentally greet your dogs before you. I’m a dog mom to the sweetest little Goldendoodle named Peaches! I also consider Disneyland my happy place and try to go there as often as possible! Having experienced the benefits of therapy firsthand, my goal is to make your experience in therapy feel safe so that you can be your authentic self in a warm, non-judgmental space.
