Miriam Leya is a trauma-focused Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for helping individuals who have been let down by traditional tools and supports. She believes everyone has the right to be true to themselves by following their intuition, or internal guidance, to live the life that feels right for them. Miriam received her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University in 2013 and is trained in Carl Rogers’ person-centered approach and the importance of a safe, judgment-free therapeutic relationship with her clients. Because she believes that everyone is unique, she has trained in a variety of evidence-based tools like EMDR, IFS therapy, and CBT, and integrates neuropsychology with a playful and artistic approach in her sessions. In her free time, she enjoys hand-stitching and sewing, going down informational rabbit holes, and putting puzzles together with her 3 kids and partner.
