Introduction

A psychologist by training focused on psychotherapy for almost two decades. Certified telehealth practitioner, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Florida, level 2 trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO), Systemic Psychotherapy, Trauma, Therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion. Prior to my psychotherapy practice, I held adjunct faculty positions at several universities in Colombia, and developed extensive experience leading therapeutic groups, teaching and practicing inter-generational family systems therapy. I offer compassionate understanding and safe contact to the parts of you that feel unwelcome, hidden away; the parts that take over when you get triggered and the parts of you that you do not like. They all play an important part in your life and for a good reason. In IFS work we focus on being with your parts instead of being in your parts. And we offer to connect with and process the wounds of trauma from the past that still has an impact on your life. These internal parts of the self can debilitate us with paralyzing fear, shame, feelings of not being good enough, and other enfeebling influences. The goal of IFS is to help the internal parts of the self to transform from their extreme states into who they’re designed to be. These parts are neither good nor bad and each can have wonderful qualities. This work is to encourage you to listen to these parts with spaciousness and personal curiosity so as to ultimately live a more balanced life. There’s always meaning behind our feelings, thoughts, behaviors and symptoms. And there is a path for getting to know ourself better and choosing your next step. Life can be messy and we can fall into patterns in the family dynamic, in marriage, in our work life or inside of ourselves that are not heathy for us. Therapy helps you get back into contact with yourself and with what is important to you.
