Hello! I am a graduate from the University of North Georgia, and a counselor who is passionate about people. I have been a volunteer counselor in my communities for many years, and it has been a great joy to turn my passion for helping people into a career. I spent a portion of my Master’s program focussed on teen and young adult populations and the specific challenges related to those ages and stages of life. I also have interest in the life transitions of young adults, and work with couples. I take a developmental and emotionally focussed approach with all of my clients, seeking to understand their struggles within their current context along with their history. I believe that the emotionally focused side of therapy is often overlooked yet can reveal our core beliefs, old wounds we hold, and the experiences (both positive and negative) that have shaped us over time. Exploring these can provide the opportunity to learn about oneself, so that a collaborative road map to healing can be created within the therapeutic relationship. “I consider it a great privilege for my clients to invite me into the vulnerable spaces of their lives, allowing me to provide comfort and understanding along the way. I would be honored to join you in your story.” -Mikaela G.
