Introduction

WELCOME! If you are struggling to cope with your own self care amidst helping others or a major life transition, I can help you navigate all of the big feelings that go along with the big job you have and offer a path towards improved mental health and overall wellness. I am an experienced therapist committed to helping others embrace a life of improved mental health and overall wellness. I believe that mental health, physical health and spiritual well being are interconnected. I also believe that personal connections with self, others, and our world are the relationships that foster wellness. My expertise is in integrating therapeutic approaches that allow for a highly individualized therapy experience. You will find that I approach sessions with gentleness, honesty, humor, nature, art, play, music, writing, physical activity, and curiosity. OUR WORK Together we will create a plan for you to obtain shelter from any continued storms you may be experiencing and gain perspective on where you are now. This is paramount to true healing. You will land in a place where you develop an understanding and appreciation of the tools that have helped you to navigate so far, a plan to obtain new tools, and an honorable way to say goodbye to the old. This work will launch a prepared voyage into a life of your choice. This work is one of the bravest and most beautiful human achievements that exist. CLIENTS I proudly work with people of many ages and many stages of life. MICHELLE I hold degrees in Psychology and Social Work from The University of Kansas and a post graduate specialization in school social work. I have over 2,000 hours in post graduate training leading to specializations to support providers. Expertise gained from over 30 years of working in school settings, community mental health, partial hospitalization, in-patient hospitalization, and public speaking has shaped my perspective that mental health is influenced by both individual and community. THE PROCESS Your scheduled appointment is "your time," whether it's for a brief consultation due to an immediate need or a full clinical session. I’ll ask for your feedback and make sure we’re on the same page. THE CLIENT PORTAL Active clients have access to a HIPAA-compliant portal, which is the hub for communication between us. Telehealth sessions are conducted through secure encryption, and also HIPAA-compliant. Your session is secure and protected. INSURANCE I do not take insurance but at your request am happy to provide a once a month super-bill that you can use to file for any out-of-network coverage your policy might offer. Therapy is expensive and I value and support your desire to have insurance pay for your therapy. My experience in working with insurance companies over the past 30 years has helped me to understand that the choice to share your private information is best in your hands. Although I have been credentialed with many insurance companies in the past, I have discovered that a relationship with a third party contradicts my value to retain utmost confidentiality of our therapy sessions. I believe that you and I together know best about what you need to work on, what treatment you should receive, and how long our therapy sessions should last. This gives you a choice of what to share or not share with your insurance company about your mental health services. If you are interested in a super-bill this will require a formal diagnosis. Please contact your insurance company and ask for their reimbursement rates for “out of network” providers. FREE CONSULTATION A good match is important. I invite you to schedule a free consultation.
