Introduction

Michelle Bolton, LPC-S, opened Affinity Counseling in 2021 after working for several years in Florence, AL at Kelly Counseling and Associates. Hi! I have been assisting adults and adolescents reach their therapeutic goals for nearly 20 years in various settings, including inpatient, community mental health, and private practice. I am very straightforward and direct, challenging yet affirming, and I am deeply interested in each individual’s unique strengths and hurdles. I am proud to offer counseling in the heart of Franklin County where people are able to share and explore issues in a nonjudgmental and accepting environment. My counseling techniques are client-centered and drawn from dialectical-behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and neuroaffirmative and neurobiologically-informed approaches. And Lexie Mauldon, ALC, NCC, CFLE, who is now accepting clients both in person and virtually via telehealth under the supervision of Michelle Bolton, LPC-S #3503. Hello! I have years of experience working with children, teens, and adults who have experienced trauma, life transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflict. I focus on growing their ability to cope with life's challenges and providing an open and safe environment for them to express emotions and experiences. I strongly believe that each client is unique and deserves an individualized approach to their counseling process. I utilize multiple theoretical approaches to achieve the best treatment plan possible for my clients. I also believe that the therapeutic relationship is vital to a successful therapy experience, so Ioften pulls from a person-centered focus in my sessions. My goal is to build my clients up by increasing their ability to regulate emotions and identify triggers that are causing dysfunction. I strongly value honesty and open communication in my sessions, and I promote open and honest feedback from my clients as well. My experience working with clients of all ages and backgrounds has strengthened my belief that counseling should provide a completely non-judgmental, open, safe, and comfortable space no matter what you are struggling with or have been through. I am passionate about providing affirming practices and multicultural competence and advocacy in counseling. You can also find her working with clients at The Healing Place in Muscle Shoals where I specialize in grief counseling. Lexie does not yet accept insurance but offers flexible private pay options.
