Marriage and Family Therapy isn't about how many people are in the room. In fact, individuals benefit greatly. It's about keeping one simple foundational fact in front of us at all times: pain and healing happen in the context of relationships. When it comes to mental health, we're always dealing with both symptoms AND systems, and we must address both. This can mean looking at your relationship with others or yourself. My experience tells me that simple things make therapy rewarding - things like feeling understood, having a neutral environment that is client focused, and working with a genuinely curious and engaged therapist. My goal is to offer these factors, as well as confidentiality and researched based treatment. Hi, I'm Michael by the way. I've been married for 18 years and I have 2 children. I have two degrees in Human Development and a wide variety of experience working in various fields before becoming a therapist in my mid 30's. I continue to pursue healing for myself and my relationships as I try my best to be helpful to others. I seek to be genuinely curious, optimistic, neutral, and challenging at times. I would use the word "coach" to describe myself in session. Many of my clients are struggling with depression, anxiety, or a feeling of being stuck and frustrated in life. Together, we will work on gaining self-knowledge, improved functioning, and becoming more connected to who and what really matters to you. Therapy isn't magic! But it can be extremely helpful. Book a free, 15 minute phone consultation with me today and we'll see if we're a good fit to work together. I wish you peace. -Michael
