Hello, my name is Melissa. I started in the mental health field interning at the VA Hospital. There I had the privilege of co-leading groups with Vietnam Veterans. Hence my love for the field began. Thereafter, I continued gaining experience and focusing on my education. I earned my BS from the University Nevada Reno, in Human Development and Family Studies. Later earning my MS from San Francisco State University, in Marriage Family Child Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling. Years later I was fortunate to live in Germany conducting clinical research in personality disorders and emotion regulation at the University of Heidelberg and working private practice in Frankfurt, Germany. I specialize in anxiety disorders, processing and healing from traumatic experiences, and communication problems in relationships. I utilize my child centered play therapy training and experience by teaching caregivers how to conduct special play time with children. Walking with people through their difficulties is an honor. I value my clients and respect the experiences that got them here. I am EMDR, CBT, and CCPT trained. Commonly I utilize inner child work, psychodynamic therapy, family systems, solution focused or mindfulness techniques when providing therapeutic services. I offer 15 minute free consultations to answer any questions you may have regarding working with me. I look forward to hearing from you.
