I am a fully licensed professional counselor and a certified alcohol and drug counselor. I have been working with adults, couples, families and adolescents for the past 9 years. I have worked in community organizations, juvenile detention centers, substance use facilities as well as private practice. The way we think directly impacts the way we feel and act. Exploring and identifying irrational or negative thought patterns allows us to challenge them. We can then develop rational thoughts that encourage healthy, positive feelings. I believe that my job as a counselor is to guide my clients in the process of self-discovery. So that they can experience personal growth and overcome barriers to reach their full potential and enrich their lives. A Client centered treatment approach allows the ability to direct their path and utilize self-determination to change their lives. Because each client and situation are unique, I will often pull in elements from multiple styles of counseling to meet the needs of the client. I provide strategies and supports using a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. EMDR, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. As a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, I am skilled in working with individuals suffering from substance use disorder. I also work with the families who have a loved one suffering from substance use disorders.
