Melissa’s approach to therapy is eclectic. She believes there are many ways to process thoughts and feelings, and that there is no one-size-fits-all therapy approach. Melissa guides her clients to figure out what is not working in their lives, establish goals for therapy, and begin to feel better about things. She believes therapy is the best tool that helps one figure out feelings and process them, and also to address how one may be blocking their own progression with negative thoughts and beliefs. Melissa uses a variety of techniques including Solution-Focused Therapy, Values-based therapy, Expressive Arts, Narrative therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Play, Mindfulness, and Trauma-informed therapy. As someone with military service members and police officers as her family and friends, Melissa holds a special place in her heart for service members, police and first responders, and their families.
