Growing up, I remember being sensitive, hardworking, and keenly aware of others emotions around me. It has always been a part of the way God wired me. Throughout my childhood and adolescence, I found myself drawn to helping and serving those younger than me, often volunteering in the Children’s Ministry, leading Bible studies, and mentoring young girls. Helping, listening and showing empathy was something I realized God had created me to do. At the same time, I often found so much of my identity in performing well and pleasing others, that it led to an unhealthy lifestyle of perfection and anxiety. I at times, became exhausted from the standards and expectations I placed on myself and the perceived (or sometimes real) expectations of others. I started counseling in my early 20s and began to understand better my anxiety, shame and perfectionistic thinking and how it was affecting me. Since earning my degree, I have received advanced training in Play Therapy and Supervision. I have been fortunate to use my education and skills in various fields. From my time in the classroom as a kindergarten teacher to my service in the office as a case manager for Devereux Therapeutic Foster Care, I have always found caring for children rewarding. I also had the opportunity to work as the Director of Young Women's Ministries at the Gathering Place in St. Simon's Island, GA which kindled a desire to work with young adults. I’m married to Brent… mom to Mazie, Graham and Claire. In my spare time, I enjoy coffee, listening to music & podcasts, eating sushi, going on long walks, and being with friends and family.
