Introduction

Melinda Johnson, LCSW, EMDR Certified Therapist and Consultant-in-Training (EMDRIA), focuses on helping her clients with Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Codependence, Parenting, Christian Marriage, Spiritual Trauma, and related issues. Melinda has received advanced training in evidence-based therapies including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). The EMDR Certified Therapist credential indicates Melinda has accomplished advanced training and extensive individual consultation in EMDR, and is a hallmark of an advanced EMDR professional. In particular, she practices Transformational EMDR (copyright) that helps clients heal their most fundamental negative beliefs about themselves that are at the heart of their personal distress. Melinda is also an EMDR Consultant-in-Training, offering consultation to EMDR Trained Therapists who are actively working toward EMDR Certification. In addition to her work as an EMDR Certified Therapist and Consultant-in-Training, she is an invited speaker to parishes and diocesan engagements focusing on mental and spiritual health. She was an officer on the board of the Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology, and Religion from 2015-2021 and was a founding member of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops’ Mental Health Task Force in 2019-2021. Much of Melinda’s work is at the intersection of Transformational EMDR (copyright) and Christian faith, helping clients who self-identify as Christian deepen their healing through their faith. While many of her clients are Orthodox Christian, she enjoys working with clients of any faith and respects each client’s belief system. A native of Stuart, FL, Melinda is a military veteran and a former law enforcement officer. Melinda offers an “intensive” EMDR + CBT model of practice that better serves your healing by allowing us to focus our time and energy more intensively on you. The purpose of intensive sessions is that we accomplish more toward your healing, sooner. With an intensive session, we spend an entire morning, or an entire afternoon, dedicated to your healing. Intensive sessions are 2½ hours long and are offered 9:30am-12pm, and 1:30-4pm. Intensives can be booked back-to-back so we spend an entire day together working toward your healing. And, we can work intensively day after day. For example, we might work together Thursday afternoon, all day Friday. Intensives offer opportunities for clients who are not in close proximity to travel to beautiful Stuart, FL, to work intensively with Melinda toward their healing. We go deep, with the intent that you experience relief sooner. To see Melinda's availability and request appointments, click on "Client Portal."
