Clients who come to me, seek a therapist who understands the unique pressures that people today face. My name is Megan Jenkins, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in California (LCSW65016). I created my practice to help persons struggling to juggle multiple roles, to address family issues, adjust to the demands of parenthood, or heal from a broken relationship, loss, or trauma. I meet all of my clients with respect and compassion for their identity and experience. Together we work to build up inherent strengths and confidence to change distressing patterns and create change. My practice is inclusive of all ages, races, sexual orientations, and gender identities/expressions. My practice has a special commitment to nurturing people during their reproductive years, and I particularly enjoy working with individuals and partners as they build their families. I bring both lived and academic experience to my work, which primarily consists of infertility (primary and secondary), pregnancy loss/miscarriage, complicated/high-risk pregnancies, parenting challenges, and perinatal (pregnant and postpartum) mood and anxiety disorders. I work with individuals who are experiencing painful memories and distress related to these challenging experiences. I currently am certified as a trained therapist in Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders by Postpartum Support International I also have the honor to work with the At Ease program. Serving our first responders and their families in managing stressors from the job, family, and other factors that may be making life more challenging. Providing a safe place to support our front line people. I am beyond grateful to support those who do so much for our community. With over 10 years of professional experience working in a therapeutic capacity, I am passionate about helping individuals recognize their strengths, build self-confidence, and seize the life they want to live. My academic history includes Bachelors in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University and a Masters in Social Work from Boston College. I returned to California and began working in San Luis Obispo County as an addiction specialist. Specifically, I began working with women struggling with co-occurring disorders and their children. Assisting them in finding understanding in their substance use and mental health issues while fostering their relationships with their children and healing associated trauma. In the last years of my career with SLO County, I supervised perinatal programs across the county.
