Maya Sol is a Xicana activist, dancer, educator, therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both CO & CA, dedicated towards raising awareness, political consciousness and empowering our community. Outside her practice, Maya Sol has worked in both the community and government sectors and directed a national award-winning program in Public Health aimed to promote reproductive justice, mental health, and racial justice. As a first generation in the U.S. mujer and a cultural broker with a mixed immigration status family, Maya Sol is dedicated towards increasing culturally grounded mental health access in Boulder County with an emphasis on Spanish-speaking and immigrant communities. She has a long history in addressing disparities within the community with an intersectional lens and inclusion for LGBTQ2 and Communities of Color. She is proud of her therapeutic offerings specifically to our undocumented and monolingual Spanish-speakers. Maya Sol graduated from the University of Denver with a Master’s in Social Work with Clinical Mental Health & Global Practice and Sustainability concentrations. A great passion of Maya Sol’s is directly working with her family through their community organizing. For the last 15 years, she has been director of youth programming at El Centro AMISTAD and is the founder of the Annual Cumbre de Jóvenes Latinx (ACJL). Maya Sol finds motivation from working with babies, children, youth, women, and families with experience in healing intergenerational trauma and resilience, childhood and adolescent development, attachment, anxiety, and Queer inclusive sexual health. Her approach is based in a holistic health model utilizing peoples’ strengths and hopes while acknowledging how systems of power impact our mental health and community wellness. Maya Sol is the Founder and CEO of MAYAMOTION Healing, a comprehensive response to the most pressing mental health, social justice, and community issues that we face today. A multilingual, woman-owned practice that promotes a holistic health model taking into account the social and political contexts that impact our mental, spiritual, and physical health with responsive modalities of healing rooted in culture, spirituality, and community. MMH is an interactive culturally grounded approach through mental health psychotherapy, somatic therapy, art, dance, and practices that result in self-transformation, wellness, and liberation. Maya Sol is grateful to her mentors, comadres, and compañeras who support her growth and development and inspire her to be brave and balance her activism with self, soul, and community care. She is committed to her own healing through songs, Aztec dance, culture, and finding time with her family and community. Maya Sol es una Xicana activista, bailarina, educadora, terapeuta y trabajadora social clínica licenciada (LCSW), en ambos CO y CA, dedicada a promover el autoconocimiento, desarrollar la conciencia política y empoderar a nuestra comunidad. Fuera de su práctica, Maya Sol ha trabajado en los sectores comunitario y gubernamental y ha dirigido un programa de Salud Pública galardonado nacionalmente que está destinado a promover la justicia reproductiva, la salud mental y la justicia racial. Como mujer de primera generación en los EEUU y como gestora cultural perteneciente a una familia de estatus migratorio mixto, Maya Sol se dedica en el condado de Boulder a facilitar el acceso a la salud mental que respeta las bases culturales, especializándose en las comunidades de habla hispana e inmigrantes.
