Hello, I’m Maya, and I have worked in the mental health & social service fields for more than 20 years. I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling & Addiction Studies from Lewis University. I have worked in crisis intervention for 14 years which has provided me invaluable experience with diverse mental health situations and populations. I have a special interest in working with those in emerging adulthood but enjoy working with everyone across the life span. I believe life is full of possibilities, seen & unseen. My professional background is diverse from mental health & social services to education & media fields. I have worked with people of all ages, races, ethnicities, & socioeconomic backgrounds. I love culture & have traveled to more than 15 countries and in my travels, I have always been humbled by the resilience & kindness of people. I lead my practice with a mindfulness based approach because I believe how you think determines how you live your life. I view therapy as a truly personal and immersive experience for my client. The therapeutic relationship must have trust, transparency and unconditional positive regard. The work (yes, therapy requires work!) we embark upon is driven by the mental and emotional wants and needs of the client. You can expect at times you may need to get uncomfortable in therapy with me, in order to, get to the place of comfort you seek. Yet, you will always do the work in a place that is safe and accepting of you.
