Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my bio. My name is Maya A. Williams, and I’m a licensed mental health counselor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I acknowledge the systemic disparities and am strongly committed to providing culturally sensitive, inclusive, and integrative care for the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ community, and other marginalized communities. My goal is to expand the notion of what some may think therapy to be. I don’t have a cure or a magic wand to change you, but I do have the knowledge, expertise, and experience to help you grow on your life journey. This can be accomplished by reviewing the intersectionality of your circumstances and utilizing therapeutic methods such as person-centered, multicultural, mindfulness-based, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral, expressive art, emotional, compassion-focused, strengths-based, interpersonal, cognitive processing, and solution-focused. To further my passionate sense of justice and advocacy I became certified as a Problem Gambling Specialist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (MA PGS) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTP). In adjunction with problem gambling and trauma, I specialize or have experience counseling individuals with ADHD, other forms of neurodivergence, anger management, relationship and/or family discord, phase of life circumstances or grief, anxiety, mood disorders, racial trauma and identities, depression, gender expression or identity exploration, self-esteem, or body image concerns, and chronic medical conditions such as PCOS.
