Max Louison-Semrow, LICSW has a lifelong background in human services, earning his bachelor’s in psychology and minor in sociology from Lesley University, followed by a Master of Social Work from Simmons University. He spent four years working in Level I trauma centers and rehabilitation hospitals in Massachusetts and Maine. He now supports patients diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses towards acceptance, coping, and goal setting in an ambulatory palliative care clinic. His style is characterized by empathy, collaborative exploration, and accountability, employing Motivational Interviewing, DBT, mindfulness, and self-exploration. Max holds at the forefront that issues only matter if the client believes they matter, and works with his clients to identify what is most important to them. He has a strong background working with people living with HIV, substance abuse disorder, and serious illness. Max enjoys navigating the undulations and changes of life, and initiating steps to help clients move forward and thrive, despite life’s challenges. He is licensed to meet with clients in Massachusetts and Maine, including via telehealth.
