As a clinician, I have the pleasure of assigning value to you, even if you cannot do that on your own. This perspective makes it easy for me to engage with you on a level that respects your wants and desires while pushing toward acceptance and change while working myself out of a job. I have been trained in a myriad of modalities, including DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), Gestalt, Trauma-informed care, and Emotion-Focused Therapy; and it is because of these trainings that I can come alongside you to help your build residence, grow, and make a lasting improvement. Success can come in several different ways, whether you have just been able to talk to the person you have been avoiding or you just made a huge life change. These measures of success are based upon your goals, dreams, and wants. If you come to see me, I want us to work collaboratively and share the truth. Your growth is not only the most important part of the therapeutic process but paramount for you to be content in your life. My role as a therapist is to push you to see your life, your expectations, your goals, and how you have been able to get better, and where you have struggled. I want to analyze what brought you to therapy so that you can make a plan and accept that outcome. I don’t believe that therapy should be shrouded in mystery and cloaked in an enigma; rather, I want you to understand what is happening.
