Introduction

Masa is originally from Japan, so he speaks English and Japanese. He came to the US in 1995. He has been working in mental health and addiction field since 1998 in a variety of settings such as hospital, treatment centers, and outpatient clinics. His approach is laid back and utilizes sense of humor. He adjusts and integrates different therapeutic modalities holistically. He is supportive while he encourages clients for growth. He is aware that it is difficult to change while it is often required to make changes for individual and family wellness. He can be direct with so called “tough love” while he is collaborative. He believes that recovery in MH/addiction/family issues requires growth, maturity, and accountability of the person who wants to get better. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC), licensed drug and alcohol counselor (LADC), certified EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapist, certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP), certified autism spectrum disorder clinical specialist (CASDCS), and registered play therapist (RPT). He utilizes animal assisted psychotherapy (AAP) when appropriate.
