Mary Beth Harbin is a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Collective Hope, LLC and her private practice called Hope to Share Life, PLLC located in the heart of Flowood, Mississippi. She's also a real person who knows real struggle and survival, failure and success, hurt and hope. Mary Beth is not just a survivor of complex trauma, but she's also a survivor of her own life choices. Choices that today she emphatically shares were not always in her best interest or representative of her core values but were made nonetheless and often from unhealed parts of herself. Now, in her work as a counselor, Mary Beth is careful and intentional to take the light of hope into the most dark, hidden, and secret spaces of the human experience. She balances boldness with gentleness, interdependency with healthy boundaries, and utter disappointment with unshakable hope. Mary Beth is on a mission to share the hope she has found with others as they begin or continue their own search for hope themselves. She characterizes her work with individuals who are labeled “different”, "soft", “emotional”, or "weak" as one of her highest privileges on this side of heaven. Mary Beth feels impassioned about counseling those who cannot easily "shake off", "just get over", "not think about", or "forget" what others appear to so easily accomplish yet they cannot. She considers counseling a sacred invitation into the hurts and hopes of courageous overcomers and resilient survivors of trauma, loss, abuse, betrayal, chaos, dysfunction, and addiction. Mary Beth demonstrates genuine care for the heaviness of burdens that individuals carry from invisible scars marked by loneliness, shame, and regret. She does not take for granted the courage it takes for individuals, couples, and families in crisis to make that first call for help and to courageously share the most intimate snapshots of their lives, relationships, and vulnerabilities with her. Mary Beth considers her work as a counselor a ministry and adheres to a Christian faith commitment. While this spiritual view of the physical world influences Mary Beth's approach to both life and counseling, her counseling experience demonstrates Mary Beth's genuine respect and care for all individuals and walks of life including those who do not share her same faith commitment.
