Martin Skerritt grew up on the Monterey Peninsula. Early on he would recognize himself as a naturally supportive listener and confidante. He always loved the stories; the magic in how when we share our unique history and truth that we gain perspective, can nurture acceptance in ourself and others. We gain insights into what is most important to be able to overcome or adapt to the challenges in our life. Martin completed his BA in psychology and his master’s degree in social work from San Francisco State University. Early training began counseling Holocaust survivors in a care facility before working at San Francisco Suicide Prevention. He’d develop deep listening skills in these early training experiences that would support the heart and soul of his work. Until opening his private practice, he worked for many years at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula as a direct care clinician in behavioral health. He has been honored to have helped countless clients like yourself through a myriad of life concerns. Trained in CBT, Mindfulness, and other modalities, Martin is experienced in his ability to treat mood disorders, anxiety, trauma recovery, coping with bereavement, chronic health and stage-of-life issues. Martin is deeply committed to providing compassionate ethical care; be the holder of the story, the guide that can help you closer to your desired goals. He looks forward to making your acquaintance.
