Marquita N. Turner, LPC

My Name is Marquita N. Turner I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Gibson, LA. I have been a Counselor for 9 years. I have been licensed with the state of Louisiana since 2016. I obtained licensure with the State of Texas in 2022. I am an alumni of Xavier University of Louisiana where I majored in Psychology Pre-Med and double minored in biology and chemistry. Between degrees I worked in several settings of the healthcare realm where I realized I loved listening to people from all walks of life. I became drawn to the issues they would present and realized how my understanding of the body's composition, operation, psyche and social behaviors assists me in providing quality treatment to some of these people. I realized how often Mental health goes unaddressed when often times it should be the focal point. I graduated with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nicholls State University in Dec. 2013. I have been blessed to have worked in several settings and have the experience to counsel clients of all ages. I believe that every living thing is needed and we can all find a harmonious way to exist in this world together. I study energy and help others redirect to achieve the mood and mental health desired. I enjoy physical exercising daily, this is apart of my mental health treatment. Just as we exercise the physical body we must exercise the mental. Yoga is a great combination of physical and mental exercise. I became indulged in meditation and yoga practices about 9 years ago. Mindfulness and training the conscious & subconscious are important to me. I also teach of these techniques and use them in treatment if accepted by the client. I am knowledgeable of both traditional and non traditional treatments to address all diagnosis of the DSM-5 and other common stressors of daily life. I am here to help clients identify problem areas, learn critical thinking skills, and move throughout the rest of their life open and enlightened about themselves.
