At Flourish Counseling, we understand that the journey to mental well-being for children, adolescents, and young adults can be challenging. And because you’re reading this, we know you likely have someone very special to you that is hurting. If you can no longer make sense of what is happening or you feel totally out of control watching your child struggle, then reach out to us today. We are a dedicated mental health counseling practice focused on providing compassionate and specialized support to help you and your child navigate life’s complexities. My name is Mark Mathews, MA, LGPC, NCC and I am the director and primary therapist for Flourish Counseling. I have a passion for helping others and love working with kids. I am a graduate of Wake Forest University with a Master’s degree (M.A.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My own personal story, life experience, and education have drawn me to an interest in how trauma and stress negatively affect our lives. As a survivor of complex trauma myself, I understand the impact that living in fear can have on the brain and how that same fear can manifest itself later in life in a variety of ways. This is why early intervention is important when young people are struggling with mental health issues. My approach to therapy could be called eclectic as I try to fit the best intervention and theory to the client’s individual needs and circumstances. Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT) is where I lean the most especially when working with clients dealing with trauma. I am trained in sensorimotor trauma therapy and polyvagal theory. It's important to note that I am an out-of-network mental health provider. While this means I don't directly work with insurance companies, I'm here to support you every step of the way. I understand that affordability is a crucial aspect of your mental health journey. So I am dedicated to helping you maximize your out-of-network benefits and will happily provide the necessary documentation for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider. My primary focus is on delivering exceptional care and creating a safe space for your healing journey. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
