As a psychotherapist with nearly 20 years of experience, I strive to provide a warm and supportive environment where clients feel safe to be seen and heard. Together we will take a collaborative, holistic approach to care that addresses your needs at a pace that feels manageable. We will work to gain insight into your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, and to build an understanding of what may cause you to feel overwhelmed or triggered at times. With this kind of insight, we can learn to accept and love ourselves while creating opportunities to build our strengths and learn new skills that bring increased confidence. My therapeutic modality is rooted in cognitive behavioral techniques, but I have found other modalities to be equally if not more effective and accessible to everyone. Specifically, I utilize body- and somatic-based interventions, EMDR, and IFS/parts work when applicable. I am also a certified ADHD clinical service provider and have advanced training in trauma. My clients are often coping with symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma. Many struggle with executive functioning skills like time management, procrastination, and emotional regulation. In addition, I have had the experience of living overseas for many years. As a result, my practice often attracts expats and TCK’s (Third Culture Kids). I have a deep understanding of the unique joys and challenges of the expat experience and work with these clients to manage the stress of constant change, the grief of goodbyes, and the ambivalent feelings that can arise when returning "home." I have worked with clients living all over the world in various stages of transition. Reaching out to a therapist is a difficult and a courageous step; that's why finding the right fit is so important. I encourage you to find a clinician who you feel a connection with and ideally makes you feel safe. I offer free 15-minute consultations to answer any of your questions and make sure I am the right provider for you. I look forward to hearing from you. About me: A native of Long Island, NY, I have a bachelor's degree in sociology from DePaul University and a master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University. I have worked as a licensed clinical social worker since 2006. Prior to starting my private therapy practice, I provided mental health services in various settings, including hospitals, schools, homeless shelters, and clinics. I began my private practice in 2010 while living overseas, working mainly with American expats and their families. In 2019, I returned to the United States and settled into Northern Virginia, where I have been practicing ever since. I am a mom to two children and I love to travel, watch stand-up comedy, and spend time in nature.
