I see our work as a collaborative journey of self discovery in that insight is developed and authenticity is increased in a nurturing and safe space. Along your journey ways of becoming unstuck are discovered and life situations become more manageable through embodiment and the development of new perspectives and skills. And along the journey understanding that each one of us is responsible for creating our present circumstances in life and finding meaning in our experiences. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) I approach clients from a trauma informed perspective and work with adult individuals struggling with developmental trauma, complex trauma, self-esteem and self-worth, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and sexual and/or gender identity issues. I believe we all have the capacity to heal through befriending our nervous system. Somatic psychotherapy, attachment theory, existential psychology and polyvagal theory inform my work as a psychotherapist. I earned my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of New Orleans and I have completed the following somatic training programs which greatly inform my work as a somatic psychotherapist: Somatic Experiencing Institute – Three year training program to achieve Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) certification. Kathy Kain – Year long training, Touch Skills Training for Therapists and four day training, Somatic Narrative and the Viscera. Stephen Terrell – Year long training, Transforming the Experienced Based Brain. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Louisiana (LA license #5505).
