I provide individual counseling to older children(9 and older), adolescents, and young adults (18-25). I am very passionate about my work and clients! I work hard to provide an empathic, supportive, and safe environment for all my clients. I value diversity and am a highly culturally sensitive counselor. I focus on building a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a strong predictor of successful treatment outcomes. Children and adolescents often struggle to communicate their emotions and needs effectively, change negative patterns of thinking, and regulate their emotions appropriately. I tailor my therapy to meet each client’s individual and unique needs. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and Young Adults providing support and incorporating parents into treatment as needed. My counseling approach integrates the most effective, well researched, evidenced-based therapeutic treatment approaches. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). I have had extensive training in CBT and DBT as these are the foundations to my practice. I received my extensive training in CBT and DBT from the top-leading training academy’s including The Beck Institute, The Behavioral Tech Institute (created by Marsha Linehan, the developer of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, DBT), and at McLean Hospital, the flagship psychiatric hospital of Mass General Brigham and Harvard Medical School. My goal is to help reduce peoples suffering and improve their quality of life, ability to function in all important life areas. Counseling can provide significant benefits that include (but not limited to) alleviating symptoms, learning how to organize and express feelings and thoughts effectively, regulate emotions, resolve conflict, problem-solve, strengthen social skills, confronting phobias and anxiety-provoking situations, and gain healthy coping strategies to make positive changes for themselves.
