Introduction

My name is Marilyn Julia Brown and I’m the founder and Clinical Director of A Mindful Way Counseling a private psychotherapy and energy healing practice! I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Reiki Master providing psychotherapy, energy healing, workshops, and clinical supervision all over California. My interest in providing psychotherapy using mindfulness as a foundation developed from my over decade-long career of providing counseling and case management to people from all backgrounds. Through this work, I found a common thread that all of the people I encountered (including myself) were struggling with. A lack of awareness and an inability to truly be in the moment. Putting these tools into practice in my own life has truly opened my eyes to the healing powers of mindfulness and meditation and has fueled my passion as a clinician to provide my clients with this powerful and life-changing tool. In addition to my experience providing mindfulness education, I also have extensive training and experience with eating disorders and disordered eating, substance use disorder, depression, anxiety, and the challenges that arise from life transitions. In recent years my own healing journey led me to reiki and other ancient and powerful forms of energy healing and these modalities have empowered me to claim my own healing in a way I didn’t know was possible! In 2018, I became a certified reiki practitioner and crystal healer and I am so excited to incorporate these powerful energy-healing tools into the I do with my psychotherapy clients. Transformative healing happens through the mind/body/and soul so to have the tools to address all areas with my clients, I feel more equipped than ever before to assist them on their healing journey! I am also available to speak on various topics including eating disorders, multicultural therapy, substance use disorders, and other specialized topics. If you are looking for a dynamic and engaging speaker for your event, please fill out my speaker request form above and I’ll be in touch.
