Marianne Redmond Lopez, MSW, LCSW, LICSW, LMSW-C | The "Bad Southern Christian" Therapist, is therapist who grew up in a Southern Christian minister’s home helps individuals conquer shame, guilt, and trauma. She treats anxiety, depression, PTSD, shame and boundary, addiction, first responder, health care, therapist, and relationship related issues. She is no stranger to these issues herself and believes that cultural shame and trauma can greatly impact individuals. She has been directly and indirectly called a "Bad Woman or Bad Christian" many times and has now embraced her own complicated self-understanding. Marianne ignored the "What will people think?!?" perspective and took the road less traveled with her career. When she attended college was the first time she started to see the world outside of a bubble. When she began working, she worked with ‘outside groups’, i.e. incarcerated folks, to homes of families in conflict, addiction and crises. These jobs really challenged Marianne’s beliefs of what it means to be a "good" therapist and a "good" person. Through the help of supervisors, friends, and clients, Marianne challenged herself, decreased her self-doubt, and became more confident, even when she felt isolated in her career. Now, she teaches all the things she's learned along the way. Marianne specializes in trauma therapy like CBT and DBT to help clients as noted above as well as those with Borderline Personality struggles and others in relationships with Narcissistic Personalities. She also works with those that struggle with grief, end of life issues, and imposter syndrome. She loves going deeper with clients and can also be a validating sound board to vent to. She provides only virtual sessions in seven states (more to come). Come have a cup of hot chocolate or a cold coke with her and book your video today! ************************************************************************************ My fellow folks: If you have ever been called ‘too whatever’, ‘not good enough’, you've come to the right place. These terms can lead to you feeling guilty, ashamed, and disconnected from you. Do you have people-pleasing anxiety? Are you afraid of disappointing people? Is this affecting your relationship with work, family, friends? Is this affecting your relationship with yourself? Have you found yourself using unhealthy coping skills? I can work with you to address guilt and shame that's affecting your life. Your culture, childhood, etc. is only a small part of who you are; it is not the entirety of who you are! You deserve a therapist who gets YOU without making broad generalizations about you. We can work together to define your own relationship with self and life. I take an eclectic approach with therapy and use techniques from a variety of therapy modalities, such as CBT, DBT, Trauma Based theories, Mindfulness, and others to help you find balance, decrease anxiety, and increase your confidence and connection to your community. After all, doing what's right for you does not make you a "Bad Person", it makes you a more genuine one. There's no such thing as being someone that everybody likes. You're always going to be "bad" to someone, so let's be "bad" together! Contact me to schedule your free intro call today and let's get started!
