Maria Zax

Maria Zax, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is passionate about helping people through their most challenging times. She earned her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Maria completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Maria has experience working with both adults and children in various settings. She has provided individual, group, and family therapy in both English and Spanish. Maria views each person as unique, valuable, and having the ability to find deep, inner strength. Through compassionate care, Maria creates this space with her clients, encouraging them to courageously explore, process, and resolve their issues. Maria employs a strengths-based and client-centered therapeutic approach, which focuses on solutions for her clients. She utilizes eclectic techniques and modalities, including CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Sand tray therapy, EMDR, traditional talk-therapy, and Play Therapy. Maria is a Certified Circle of Security Parenting facilitator and uses mindfulness, relaxation techniques, expressive arts, and self-compassion as additional tools. She helped children and families with various concerns, including trauma, domestic violence, postpartum depression, and general mental health issues. Her goal is to effectively and gently help clients resolve grief, loss, anxiety, depression, childhood issues, trauma, and other difficult life issues. Maria has long advocated for women, empowering them to meet and overcome life challenges help improve their lives by building a toolbox of coping skills and strategies to meet and resolve stressors, improve their communication skills, find their voice, heal life challenges, and implement guilt-free self-care for healthy, joyful, and successful lives.
