Hi! I'm Marcela (she/her) a Latina clinical social worker with 10 years of experience working with adolescents, families, young adults and older adults in a variety of settings including schools, health care and community based organizations. I earned my Masters in Social Work from Lehman College. As a Latina, born and raised in NY, I understand the intricacies of navigating a bicultural identity and perspective. I provide a culturally sensitive, nonjudgemental, supportive environment to all of my clients. As an LGBTQIA+ ally I provide gender-affirming care and use a trauma-informed lens with my clients. I support individuals affected by anxiety, depression, grief/loss, coming out, low self-esteem, interpersonal relationship conflicts, stress and trauma. My primary focus is to empower and equip you with the tools necessary to live a life full of purpose and authenticity. I use a strengths-based approach and my therapeutic style is eclectic, integrating modalities from CBT, ACT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing and currently training in EMDR. I incorporate mind-body therapies such as mindfulness, breath work, and guided imagery. Helping you feel safe in your own body is an important part of your healing journey and I am here to help you cultivate practices that will increase your self-awareness, self-efficacy and self-care. As your therapist you can expect transparency, consistency, humor and creativity. While you are the expert of your life, I am here to help you take the first steps towards prioritizing your mental wellness.
