Introduction

Growing up in an Asian community, mental health can be a difficult topic to talk about. And I say this out of my own experience and observation of others. Having lived in two different countries has provided me with an insight into the unique set of conflicts that arises due to cultural differences and us having different set of values than people around us. I, also, believe that as humans we have the ability to be a whole and complete individual. And there are times when this inner strength is overpowered by sudden or ongoing anxiety, unhappiness, and at times even anger. In my therapy sessions, I work with my clients in providing strategies that will help in re-attain functionality in day to day life and work on inner core beliefs as a step towards long term healing. Although I put an emphasis on Asian population on my website, I have gained plethora of experience working with different variety of population during my work at community mental health care (in Spokane, WA and in Tacoma, WA). Since 2017, working as a therapist has provided me the opportunity to witness wide variety of lifestyles led by people and I continue to welcome people from all different race, cultural backgrounds, religions, sexuality, lifestyle, etc. My focus is to help you live the best life that you want to live. Education and Professional Experience I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Honors in Psychology) from Panjab University, India in 2015 and then had a major transition of moving to United States to finish my Masters. I graduated with Master of Science in Clinical Psychology in 2017 from Easter Washington University. I currently hold Licensed Mental Health Counselor credential that allows me to practice in the State of Washington. I worked with a community mental health agency from 2017 - 2021 and while working there I realized my pull towards extending my services to the minority groups. Groups that may struggle in accessing therapy services due to cultural barriers - languages being one of the significant ones! I started my private practice in 2019 and transitioned towards being self-employed by the end of 2021. In addition to my private practice, I also work as an Independent Contractor with another group practices. I continue to spread awareness regarding mental health in South Asian community by running an open-group for Women Survivors of Domestic Violence and Mental Health Introductory group session for Older Adults.
