Introduction

Hello! My name is Makena Futrell, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, LPC-A. I went to the University of Texas at Tyler for my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and then received my Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) from Letourneau University in 2021. I started as a caseworker while in school before transitioning into counseling. I have had experience in the mental health field for 4 years handling major mental health illnesses like Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety disorders, Attention disorders, and eating disorders. I am licensed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other behavioral therapies. I have experience practicing Person-Centered Therapy. I also have experience working in Crisis Units and in hospitals. I am also starting to work with a small number of teens and children at this time as well.
