Prior to becoming a therapist I was searching for my own therapist, I quickly learned that there weren’t many therapists out there that helped me feel culturally known and safe as a woman of color. The discouraging experience of struggling to find a therapy space that highlighted and honored my Mexican American experiences was the foundation that eventually culminated in my mission to provide a therapeutic space for others experiencing issues related but not limited to first generation adults trying to fit into two cultures and norms. My style is integrative, mindful and rooted in social justice. I will support you as we navigate through your emotions, intergenerational trauma, cultural adjustments, or relational distress. My goal is to provide effective and quality care through safety, compassion, and empowerment. For many of us, we live with identities and experiences that are not permitted, accepted, or understood in our dominant society. Too often, our unique identities and experiences become a source of shame and inadequacy. Together we will learn to celebrate them as sources of strength and empowerment as I commit to being your ally and working collaboratively.
