Lynn is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has been practicing since 2015. She loves the skills that God has blessed her with and counsels individuals and families, ages 6 and up. Lynn received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC and her graduate degree from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia, majoring in Community/Clinical Psychology. Lynn has more than 25 years experience working with children and families from a community and clinical perspective working with various populations and cultures. She has received training in Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP). Specialties: Skills training for ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, behavioral modification, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, PTSD, phobias, OCD, trauma, grief and loss, self-harming behaviors and suicidal ideations, anger management, other mood disorders, social skills training, stress and general issues, marital, couples and family counseling, co-parenting, parenting skills training and foster care and adoption counseling. Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Faith Based Counseling, DBT, and Cognitive Therapy (CT) are primary approaches used. Lynn works with the EAP (Employee Assistance Plan), short-term solution focused counseling for most employee programs. Lynn has been a panelist at the National Association of Public Defenders (NAPD) conference and has spoken at several church functions – Family Conference, Prayer for Ministries Retreat and women’s small groups on topics including trauma and resilience, and self-care. Ministry Role Lynn is a member of Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church (CEBC) since 2003. She is a small group leader, since 2008; assists with the Evangelism Support Team, Co-Commander for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (AWANA) and with the nursing home ministry. She is the District Team Leader (Portsmouth and Suffolk) and has been involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship After School Good News Club (CEF ASGNC) since 2018. Lynn’s love for evangelism and missions and has led her to travel on short-term missions trips through answered prayer to The Virginian Eastern Shore, Ghana, West Africa, Accra, Portland, Jamaica, Nairobi, Kenya and Juba, S. Sudan.
